Tough Week for the Rangers

Parkland drops trio of games

The Parkland Rangers endured a tough week as they dropped three straight road games and struggled to generate any offence along the way. The week started on Tuesday night in Shoal Lake where the Yellowhead Chiefs handed the Rangers a 5-0 drubbing. Chase Glover was solid in the Parkland net but the guests weren’t able to build on a strong opening frame and Yellowhead ultimately pulled away for a comfortable win. Saturday afternoon in Winnipeg was no better, the Thrashers coming out on top of the visitors by an 8-0 score. Sunday’s visit to the Winnipeg Bruins saw Parkland put together a much more comprehensive effort that ultimately led to a 5-4 loss but generated some positive vibes. Cade Legaarden, Maddox Shindle, Hayden Seib and Cash Clarkson did the goal scoring for the Rangers and Glover was solid between the pipes with 24 saves. Ethan McMullan had a pair of assists in the loss with single helpers going to Cam Sarna, Legaarden and Clarkson.

The losing streak leaves the Rangers needing a mathematical miracle to make the playoffs but with plenty left to play for. The squad has currently beaten every team in the league at least once this season, aside from Brandon and Eastman. The final three games of the season will be played against those very teams. Furthermore, this weekend’s series in Dauphin will give the Rangers a chance to win the season series with the Bruins, whom they have beaten once previously. With players starting to see more opportunities at the MJHL level each week, the final five games are also an opportunity for players to catch the eyes of scouts and coaches at the next level.
